This project is supported by the NSF (National Science Foundation) HSI (Hispanic Serving Institutions) Program and it aims to improve STEM education by enhancing math preparation for undergraduate students at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) and the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). Faculty are developing engaging math exercises to address common student misunderstandings, with the goal of reducing time to graduation, lowering degree costs, and decreasing STEM attrition, particularly for underrepresented groups. The project includes research on the effectiveness of these exercises, which will be made publicly available and shared widely within Nevada and across the nation.
UNLV is a public, urban research institution that holds the nation’s highest recognition for both research and community engagement from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching – R1, the gold standard for research institutions. These distinctions underscore UNLV’s vision to become one of the nation’s premier public universities for research, education, and community impact.
Since 1971, the College of Southern Nevada has grown to become a leading education institution being the 5th largest college of its type in the country. CSN being a single college, multi-campus community college with 4 main campuses in Nevada, Cheyenne, Charleston, Henderson, and Mesquite as well multiple sites and centers across the Las Vegas valley. At CSN, we put our students first and encourage everyone to become a better version of themselves.

Monika Neda had the first workshop with the UNLV Noyce Scholars in August 2024 where the game and engineering applications for Cluster 1 were presented for potential use in the classroom by the Scholars after graduation.
The Outreach team together with CSN colleagues, Alok Pandey and Claudia Mora-Bornholdt, organized a workshop with high school teachers at UNLV campus on Oct. 19 to disseminate the math games and engineering applications.
